Holiday Adopt-A-Family Program Fact Sheet

Many of our clients, young children and families, do not have the financial resources for gifts, toys or even food for a holiday meal. Anyone who wants to experience the spirit of giving is invited to become an Adopt-A-Family Sponsor.

How does Holiday Adopt-A-Family work?

The Children’s Place staff identifies child clients and families who need holiday assistance.

Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations are matched with families. Every attempt is made by the staff of The Children’s Place to honor the sponsor’s requests for the size and number of families assigned.

The Children’s Place provides the following information:

First names and ages of family members
Suggested gift items for each member of the family
    Clothing sizes, if applicable
Two suggested grocery stores for the gift card for the holiday meal

When adopting a family, the sponsor agrees to provide at least one new wrapped gift for each family member and a grocery store gift card. Grocery store gift cards are important so that each family can purchase food for their holiday meal that maintains their individual traditions. The grocery store gift card needs to be in an amount large enough to cover the family’s holiday dinner. General guidelines are family of 4 –at least $50.00, family of 5-8, at least $75.00, etc.

You will be asked to identify the date by which you need to receive your match information. We will begin sending out information as it becomes available. If no date is specified, you can expect to receive your match information no later than November 20, 2008.

All gifts should be wrapped and tagged. Please place the grocery store gift card/certificate in an envelope. Please deliver all the gifts in large trash bags. To avoid any confusion, we will label the bags and envelopes with the name of your adopted family when they are dropped off at The Children's Place.

The gifts need to be delivered to The Children's Place on Saturday, December 13, 2008 between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Directions for dropping off the gifts will be sent to you along with the family information. Alternative drop-offs will be scheduled as need on an individual basis. Delivering gifts to families is a responsibility we must assume due to the high degree of confidentiality we have with our clients.  The therapists and staff working with your family will make arrangements for them to receive your gifts.
