The Charity Game

Since 1984 the Kansas City Chiefs have teamed with the Kansas City community to raise money and awareness for local children’s charities through the annual Chiefs Charity Game. Created by Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt, the game encourages Kansas City businesses and philanthropists to support local non-profit agencies who strive to meet the significant physical, educational and material needs of children living in our community. In the past 10 years, more than $5 million has been donated to worthwhile charities thanks to this fundraising initiative.

TCP is proud to be the beneficiary for 2015-17. Being selected as the beneficiary provides the agency with the unique opportunity to raise visibility and awareness about the work we do to heal children and families in Kansas City and ultimately raise funds to expand our services.

As noted by Mark Donovan, President of the Chiefs; “The Chiefs organization has established and maintained one of the National Football League’s most successful and unique community initiatives in the Chiefs Charity Game. The Children’s Place has been a safe haven for youth in Kansas City for nearly 40 years. Their commitment to meeting the developmental and mental health needs of local youth makes them a tremendous resource.” The Charity Game will be the first, home preseason game of the 2016 season.
