The Children’s Place Announces Appointment

of President and CEO

David Matson Will Head Kansas City Organization Devoted to Helping Young Children

Who Have Been Victims of Abuse and Neglect

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Jan. 21, 2009) — The Children’s Place (CASC) is pleased to announce that David Matson has been appointed by The Children’s Place board of directors as the President and CEO of the agency’s child treatment and abuse prevention center. The local non-profit organization cares for young victims of abuse, neglect and other childhood traumas.

Matson most recently served as the interim President and CEO of The Children’s Place. Prior to that, he was a member of the board of directors of The Children’s Place for five years, including chair of the Strategic Development Committee.

“For over 30 years The Children’s Place and its supporters have filled a vital need in the community by providing day treatment as well as therapeutic services. It is an honor to be part of an organization with its history and tradition,” Matson said.  “I am very happy to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful staff at the agency. Their dedication to young children in the Kansas City area is inspiring. My family has been involved with foster children for a number of years and we have seen, firsthand, how important the services provided by The Children’s Place are to these children.”

Matson is a graduate of the University of Kansas and the University of Duke School of Law. After working in many capacities at Sprint, he went on to serve as General Counsel for Bernstein-Rein, a full-service international advertising agency headquartered in Kansas City, MO.  Matson left his position at Bernstein-Rein in 2007 to focus on child advocacy and non-profit needs in the Kansas City community.

In 2009, The Children’s Place will be celebrating its 30th year of service as part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to fulfilling one of the greatest needs within the community for treatment, care and nurturing for some of the area’s youngest victims of abuse and neglect.
