The Children’s Place Announces Appointment

of Interim President and CEO

David Matson Joins Children’s Abuse, Neglect Treatment Organization With Years of Service

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Sept. 19, 2008) — The Children’s Place (CASC) announced that David Matson has assumed the role of Interim President and CEO of the agency’s child treatment and abuse prevention center which cares for young victims of abuse, neglect and other childhood traumas. The announcement follows the departure of agency President and CEO, Alan Murray, in order to pursue other career interests. The Children’s Place executive committee has launched a search to identify a successor. Matson will fulfill the role of Interim President and CEO until a successor has been named. Matson served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Place for five years, including Chair of the Strategic Development Committee. He is a graduate of the University of Duke School of Law. After working in many capacities at Sprint, he most recently served as General Counsel for Bernstein-Rein, a full-service international advertising agency headquartered in Kansas City, MO.  Matson left his position at Bernstein-Rein in 2007 to focus on child advocacy and non-profit needs in our community. Susan Ball, chair of The Children’s Place board of directors, said Matson’s many solid contributions and experience are valuable to the agency. "David has demonstrated a commitment to furthering clinical research initiatives around child abuse prevention, trauma and neglect and is recognized as an advocate for Kansas City children," Ball said. "As The Children’s Place celebrates 30 years of service, the board of directors, staff and stakeholders look forward to continuing a legacy of high-quality service delivery for traumatized young children.”
