Hope’s Boy Author Bridge to Speak About His Experiences Growing Up in the Foster Care System
KANSAS CITY, MO. (Apr. 3, 2009) — Andrew Bridge, author of Hope’s Boy, a memoir of the many years Andrew spent in the Los Angeles county foster care system, will be the featured keynote speaker Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the 8th annual Angels of The Children’s Place luncheon. The luncheon will take place at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott – Muehlebach Tower from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and will benefit The Children’s Place, which is dedicated to helping heal the youngest survivors of abuse, neglect and trauma.
Bridge is a graduate of Harvard Law School and is a devoted pioneer for children’s well-being and safety in foster care. Hope’s Boy became a New York Times bestseller, a winner of the 2008 Elle Magazine Readers’ Prize, a Reader’s Digest Featured Book Bonus and has received critical acclaim for many other literary entities. Bridge is an inspirational speaker and has been a featured speaker for a multitude of events and audiences across the nation.
The Children’s Place is a local, nonprofit organization that provides critical early intervention services to our community’s youngest survivors of abuse, neglect and trauma. The agency’s Day Treatment program delivers in-depth expert treatment to infants and children up to age six. In addition, The Children’s Place provides comprehensive assessment, evaluation and evidence-based outpatient treatment for children under eight years of age, as well as a parenting support services.
