Long-term Volunteers

Just like most nonprofit agencies in our community, The Children's Place relies on the support of many talented volunteers to help us achieve our mission. In 2005, 360 volunteers provided 4994 hours of service to the organization. While these annual numbers are impressive, it the commitment that many of these volunteers have made over time that is truly inspirational.

When you ask the volunteers what motivated them to start volunteering at TCP, most of them say it was because they wanted to help children. When you ask them why they keep coming back, they will tell you it is because, literally before their very eyes, they can see the positive impact that their work and their time has on the kids. If longevity is a gauge of fulfillment, we can safely say that there is no better place to help kids.

TCP recently established the Janet Warren Volunteer Award to recognize volunteers who have completed 20 years of service. To date, five outstanding women have been awarded this amazing honor, they are: Janet Warren (25), Cozette Spurney and Susan Sinclair (21), and Ann McShane and Dee Binda (20).

To join these wonderful women as a classroom volunteer contact the Community Outreach Coordinator at communityoutreach@tcpkc.org or (816) 363-1898.
