Commitment

“To leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition… This is to have succeeded”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Children’s Place family was deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of Mrs. Linda Owen. As a founder of the agency, Linda believed passionately in the need to break the cycle of child abuse and neglect in our community and ensure that intensive early intervention services were available to its very youngest victims. As the first President/Chair of the Board of Directors of The Children’s Place, Linda established a commitment to compassionate, quality care that remains the cornerstone of the agency today.

Since 1978, numerous individuals have followed Linda’s example in advocating for our community’s young abused and neglected children by giving of their time, energy and resources to The Children’s Place. Their support has helped to ensure that young traumatized children have “a place” where they can come to know love, learn to trust again and eventually heal from their often horrific experiences.

The ultimate legacy of Linda Owen and the countless others who continue to support The Children’s Place is the thousands of young children whose lives have been transformed because of their involvement and commitment. I am fortunate to be able to witness the success of Linda’s vision and dedication in the faces of countless young children each day. For that, our entire community should be grateful.
